Skyrim Guide: How to Defeat Dragons

In The Elder Scroll V: Skyrim, the world is threatened by dragons, along with political wars. You will meet the first one right at the start of the game. In this guide, we'll look at how to defeat dragons.

Dragons are powerful beings. They fly over you at a speed that any hit with a bow is lucky (or you're an extremely talented archer). If they hit you with their scream or tail swipe, it can quickly mean death. But they are not invincible and, if you are prepared and careful, they are sometimes quite easy to create.

Rule # 1: Clean up your inventory

The most important thing is that you are always prepared for a dragon attack. I well remember a situation in which I had just taken all the armor and weapons of our last raid from my companion in order to turn them into gold from the seller who was close to me. I packed so much in my inventory that I was completely overloaded and could only walk slowly.

At that very moment a dragon appears. Neither the dealer nor my companion wanted to be spoken to, so I had to drag the entire fight for the houses at a snail's pace. Luck in misfortune: At least there were protective houses and the residents and local guards helped defeat the dragon. I would not have survived the fight in a more open field.

So make sure to empty your inventory regularly. Sell โ€‹โ€‹what you don't need, melt and process your ores, and bring the rest into your home. If you don't have a house, take a look at our Skyrim House Guide.

Rule # 2: Carry the correct selection of potions with you

I hardly ever use potions in games myself. In general, I am always quite cautious in all games with consumables. Still, it is of great help in dragon fights if you have a few potions ready.

Potions for magicka and stamina are especially helpful. Depending on your skill level, you will then heal yourself (and still get points Restoration) or regularly uses health potions. During the times when the dragon is back in the air, you can heal yourself optimally.

Rule # 3: Buff yourself

Before the fight really starts, the dragon circles over you for a while. Here, make sure you've chosen the right weapons and start buffing. Now would be a good time, especially for armor-enhancing buffs. ๐Ÿ˜‰ In addition, shortly before the start of the fight you can take potions that increase your basic values โ€‹โ€‹of magicka, stamina and health for a time.
