What is a DMS weighing cell
Strain Gauge Load Cell / S-Type Load Cell
What is a load cell strain gauge?
A strain gauge is an electrical resistor that is glued to the deformation body of the load cell and connected to the electronics.
How does a flexible beam load cell / S-type load cell work? How does a flexible beam load cell work?
Flexible beam load cells and S-type load cells work on the same principle as all other flexible beam load cells, but keep the load and capacity in line. This means that there are no external moments, making them relatively easy to integrate. They are mostly used in applications with the S-type load cell mode of operation.
A strain gauge load cell is integrated into the weighing equipment. It is equipped with strain gauge load cell technology to apply the operation of the S-Type load cell so that when a piece is weighed, the force it exerts is measured. The strain gauge load cell deforms or reacts to the force - the strain gauge maps this deformation accordingly, which leads to an electrical signal that is then evaluated in digital form.
What is an S-Type Load Cell? What is an S load?
METTLER TOLEDO offers a wide range of strain gauge load cells with maximum loads from 5 kg to 300 t, including a 5 t strain gauge load cell. DMS load cells such as the 5t load cell are available in aluminum, coated steel and electropolished stainless steel. Calculating the accuracy of load cells and calculating the capacity of load cells are described in detail in our mechanical engineering manual.
DMS load cells are available in various calibratable accuracy levels according to OIML R60 and NTEP HB44, from OIML 3000e (OIML C3), NTEP 5000d, OIML 6000e (OIML C6), NTEP 10000d and OIML 10000e (OIML C10). DMS load cells are also available for your applications in Ex areas and are approved in accordance with ATEX, FM (Factory Mutual), cFM (Canada), IECEx and NEPSI. They correspond to protection classes IP67, IP68 or even IP69K. DMS load cells, flexible rod load cells and S-type load cells support CalFree calibration without test weights or even CalFree Plus and thus enable tank calibration at the push of a button.
What is a shear beam load cell?
Shear beam load cells measure the shear load in the counterforce of the load cell. Since this is not a strict definition, the term is often used for any flexible beam load cell, regardless of its measuring principle or the S-type load cells. Despite frequent contradicting statements, shear beam load cells are in principle more accurate than rod load cells in the scientific sense.
How do you use a strain gauge to measure weight?
With the DMS load cells from METTLER TOLEDO, weighing can be quickly and safely integrated into any machine to enable filling, dosing, charging, sorting and the use of checkweighers. METTLER TOLEDO S-Type load cells and flexible beam load cells are used for applications in the food, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. They are available for different load cell types and applications and environments to meet the needs of OEM machine manufacturers, system integrators and end users. A wide range of accessories is available for the strain gauge load cells, such as: B. base plates, load introduction hardware and isolators to withstand heat, shock and vibration.
