Linkin Park biography

In 1996, Linkin Park, one of the most successful rock bands in recent years, was founded in Los Angeles (California, USA). Originally the band was called Xero, but shortly afterwards named himself in Hybrid theory around. After the self-titled debut EP, the second name change followed, called Linkin Park. The name is a homage to Lincoln Park in Santa Monica.

The long unsuccessful search for a record company ended in 1999 with the help of Jeff Blue, Vice President of Warner Bros. Records, and only a year later the debut album "Hybrid Theory" was released. Linkin Park achieved gold status after just three weeks and jumped from 0 to the top 20 of the US Billboard charts.

Due to the massive presence in youth magazines and radio stations, critics quickly spoke of a purely mass product that was created to skim the market. Nonetheless, or maybe because of it, Linkin Park received a Grammy and an ECHO in 2001. Other awards such as several MTV Video Music Awards and MTV Europe Music Awards followed in the years that followed.

The first major Linkin Park live tour through Europe had to be canceled due to an illness of Chester Bennington. In 2007, however, they appeared at both Rock im Park and Rock am Ring. The album "Minutes To Midnight", released this year, was a complete success, it achieved several top placements worldwide and was awarded multiple platinum marks.

Towards the end of the summer of 2010, the band released their fourth studio album entitled "A Thousand Suns". With this too, Linkin Park reached the top of the charts in many countries. However, the sales figures did not quite reach the level of the predecessor works. The most successful single on the album was "New Divide", which was also featured as the title track in the soundtrack for the film "Transformers - Die Rache".

With the albums "Living Things" (2012), which included the super hit "Burn It Down", and "The Hunting Party" (2014), the band continued their success story in the following years.
